Youth Brass Seminar

World-Class Experience!

The 2020 Youth Brass Seminar is an incredible “not to be missed” opportunity to work with and learn from the finest brass performers in the country!  The 2020 seminar takes place in an online distance learning format from Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 17.

THE CONDUCTOR

Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Michael Garasi possesses extraordinary stage charisma and ease of connection with both students and audiences. With an intuitive and instinctive understanding of and passion for music, Mr. Garasi is one of the most engaging and exciting professional conductors of our day.

THE FACULTY

Our faculty includes renowned performers who teach in highly regarded institutions including the Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Michigan, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Also on the faculty are outstanding free-lance musicians who play in some of the world’s most prestigious venues and with some of the most sought-after ensembles. This year’s seminar faculty are: Rex Richardson (trumpet), Rich Kelley (trumpet), Adam Unsworth (french horn), Gail Robertson (euphonium), Tony Baker (trombone), William Russell (tuba), Dave Coash (percussion), and John Beck (percussion).

OUR SEMINAR

The 5-day seminar will feature daily sectionals and master classes led by the all-star faculty as well as listening sessions and discussions with Michael Garasi. There will be daily solo performances followed by Q&A chats allowing the students to ask questions and interact with the BBBC musicians. Each participant will receive three individual online lessons with a faculty member, and all of the students and faculty will collaborate on a “Virtual Band” recording project that will be released during the week following the event.

VIRTUAL BAND PERFORMANCE

All students and faculty will collaborate on a “Virtual Band” recording project that will be released soon after the event.
